Tom’s coffee journey began humbly, roasting beans in a cast iron pan while running a café in downtown Ann Arbor, Michigan. What started as a passion project soon transformed into a full-blown business as he mastered the craft, eventually owning and operating his own coffee roasting company for a decade.
Tom’s hands-on experience, from small-batch roasting to managing a thriving coffee business, gives him a unique understanding of the challenges and needs that roasters face. He’s been in the shoes of the small business owner, problem-solver, and craft roaster, which makes him exceptionally qualified to help business owners make one of the most critical investments they’ll ever make—the acquisition of a commercial coffee roaster.
At San Franciscan, Tom’s role is more than just guiding clients to the right machine; it's about helping them build the foundation of their business, setting them up for a lifetime of success with roasters designed to produce quality coffee for decades. His wealth of industry knowledge and passion for the craft ensures that each customer receives expert advice and personalized support.
Outside of the coffee world, Tom enjoys spending time with his family, exploring the beautiful landscapes of Michigan’s West Coast, cooking, reading, and diving into video games. He’s excited to be part of the San Franciscan team, joining a group of artisans and craftsmen who share his dedication to quality and passion for helping roasters succeed.
