The Specialty Coffee community is all about sustainability, from farm to cup. When it comes to roasting, roastmasters must be completely aware of how their machines affect the environment. Local municipalities are in charge of regulating emissions. As such, regulations differs from state to state but larger roasters (specifically those that roast over 10 lbs/5 kg) require some type of permit in order to be operated. The San Franciscan Roaster Company is devoted to building machines that exceed expectations. Our largest roasters, the SF25 and SF75, come outfitted with afterburners in order to comply with the most stringent air quality control mandates. But the work doesn’t stop there. The San Franciscan Roaster Company is doing its part in bettering the environment. Our coffee school, the Coffee Roasting Institute in North Carolina, is working on becoming a net zero carbon footprint business. This way, prospective roastmasters can learn everything there is to know about roasting while reducing their environmental footprint.

America has always celebrated the individual and the potential of every person to contribute something of unique value to the larger picture. Individualism is an upheld value in the specialty coffee culture; every vision is different and every pair of hands involved in the process is distinct, valuable, and necessary. This idea is intrinsic to the San Franciscan Roaster Company, where we build using only American-made parts and cherish ideas of craftsmanship, artistry, and innovation. Every machine we construct is handcrafted, carefully assembled, and representative of our profound knowledge of the industry. So in the spirit of one of America’s finest founding principles, we are proud to introduce our newest roaster: the SF10.

Specialty coffee roasting is an exciting journey to embark on whether you’re working as a part-time barista at your local coffee house or an entrepreneur who’s looking for the next challenge. The coffee roasting industry is simultaneously a global enterprise while being incredibly individualistic. In most cases, specialty coffee roasters, brands, and shops are managed by only a handful of people. And not every coffee roaster has his or her own coffee shop or coffee house. Thanks to the internet and online shopping, many coffee roasters are able to ship their product all around the world. In order for a batch of coffee beans to achieve the distinction of specialty coffee, the coffee roaster must use his or her personal skills and abilities to create something truly unique. Unlike mass-produced coffees, specialty coffee roasting boasts a personal touch that allows it to stand apart from the rest. It’s also necessary to use a specialty coffee roaster like the ones available from the San Franciscan Roaster Company. We build our products by hand to your exact specifications.
